INTO THIN AIR is a collection of original abstract and contemporary mountain paintings inspired by my experiences trekking through the Himalayas and exploring the European Alps.

Painted in oil on canvas, each one-of-a-kind landscape captures the atmosphere of the mountains — shifting light, distant peaks, dramatic skies and the feeling of standing high above the world.

Contemporary Mountain Art Inspired by the Himalayas

The inspiration for INTO THIN AIR began during my time trekking the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal. The scale of the Himalayas, changing mountain light and moments when distant peaks appeared through cloud became the starting point for this collection.

Rather than painting mountains as literal representations, I use colour, texture and atmosphere to capture how it feels to experience these landscapes. Some works are inspired by recognisable Himalayan peaks, while others distil memories of altitude, weather and light into more abstract mountain landscapes.

Every available painting in the collection is an original, hand-painted work rather than a reproduction. Selected artworks are also available as limited-edition fine art prints.
