Beyond the Last Ridge is an original semi-abstract mountain landscape painting inspired by the breathtaking sunsets I experienced while hiking the GR20 in Corsica.

As the sun begins to disappear beyond the horizon, the mountains gradually fade into the distance, becoming soft silhouettes against the evening sky. Layers of earthy browns, muted reds and warm terracotta contrast with a striking band of electric pink, while deep blue tones settle across the sky above.

This painting captures one of my favourite moments in the mountains – when the last light catches the horizon and the landscape slowly disappears into shadow. There's a beautiful stillness to this time of day, when the colours become more intense just before darkness falls.

Using soft layers of oil paint and a minimalist composition, I wanted to capture the atmosphere and emotion of witnessing these incredible sunsets along the GR20, rather than depicting the landscape literally.

Beyond the Last Ridge is a contemporary mountain painting that brings the warmth, tranquillity and drama of the mountains at sunset into your home.
