Beyond the Pines is a contemporary mountain landscape painting inspired by the spectacular sunsets I experienced while trekking the GR20 through the rugged mountains of Corsica.

As the sun disappears behind the mountains, the sky transforms into layers of fiery orange, warm pink and deep purple. The distant peaks become silhouettes against the fading light, while the pine forests gradually dissolve into shadow.

Inspired by those unforgettable evenings in the mountains, this painting captures the stillness and atmosphere of the landscape at last light, when the colours of the sky linger long after the sun has disappeared.

Using soft layers of oil paint and subtle tonal transitions, I've recreated the warmth of the sunset and the quiet beauty of the mountains as day turns to night.
